About Yonas Osman Abdelghafour

Independent analysis of artificial intelligence, emerging technology and long-run structural change — written to distinguish evidence from scenario.

What this site is

This site publishes independent analysis of artificial intelligence, emerging technology and long-run structural change. Its purpose is narrow and deliberate: to separate what current evidence actually supports from what is interpretation, scenario or speculation — and to say clearly which is which.

That distinction is missing from most technology commentary. Capability demonstrations are reported as if they were deployments, benchmark results as if they were economic outcomes, and speculation in the confident grammar of forecast. The result is a public conversation that swings between inevitability and dismissal, and helps almost nobody make a decision.

How I work

My approach is analytical rather than promotional. In practice that means:

  • Starting from constraints. Energy, materials, capital, skills, regulation and trust are more predictable than breakthroughs, and they usually decide timelines.
  • Separating capability from diffusion. A working demonstration and a widely adopted technology are separated by a decade of unglamorous work.
  • Using scenarios rather than single futures. Several internally consistent outcomes, chosen to stress different assumptions, are more useful than one confident prediction.
  • Following second-order effects. The consequences that matter are usually two or three steps downstream of the obvious ones.
  • Publishing indicators. Each analysis states what would confirm or falsify it, so the reasoning can be checked later rather than quietly forgotten.

The full method is set out in How to Think About the Future Without Pretending to Predict It and in the sources and research methodology.

What I explore

The work spans artificial intelligence and agentic software, the future of work, robotics and physical automation, future society, the future economy and the mechanics of money, health and longevity, cities and mobility, energy systems, space technology and the methods of futures thinking.

These topics are treated as one interconnected subject rather than separate beats, because that is how they behave: AI progress is constrained by energy, energy build-out is constrained by planning institutions, and robotics economics depends on labour markets that AI is simultaneously reshaping.

What I will not do

I do not claim credentials, awards, affiliations or publications I do not have. I do not invent statistics, quotations or citations. I do not publish content whose main purpose is to rank in a search engine. And I do not offer investment, legal or medical advice.

Where a claim cannot be traced to a primary source, it is omitted rather than approximated. Where my own view is doing the work, it is presented as my view.

Standards and accountability

The commitments behind this work are written down and public: the editorial policy covers independence and standards, the corrections policy covers how errors are reported and fixed, and the privacy policy covers how this site handles visitor data. Corrections and source challenges are welcome through the contact page and are prioritised over other correspondence.
